Breakout Rooms allow for participants to be segmented into smaller groups for a defined period of time, and then rejoin the main session when the Breakout Room duration has elapsed. This feature is available for instructor scheduled meetings.
NOTE: Breakout Rooms are a feature of YouSeeU Premium.
To initiate breakout rooms, click on the Actions button at the bottom of the screen and select Create breakout rooms.
Identify the number of breakout rooms you would like to create and the time limit for the breakout. Then you can drag and drop names from the Not Assigned box into each breakout room. When you are finished, click Create to invite participants to enter their assigned breakout room.
When Breakout Rooms are initiated, participants receive an invitation to join their assigned Breakout Room session. They will remain connected to the main session while in a Breakout Room, but their audio connection will disconnect from the main session.
After breakout rooms have launched, you can monitor breakout rooms from the main session by clicking the Actions button and selecting Show breakout rooms.
While viewing breakout rooms, you can monitor duration and join rooms if desired. If you choose to join a breakout room, you will be asked if you would like to join the breakout room. Breakout rooms launch in a new tab. If you would like to leave one room and join another, close the breakout room tab and return to the Virtual Classroom page. When back in the main meeting space, click the Actions button and select Show breakout rooms again.
Participants see a countdown timer in the Breakout Room. The session will terminate automatically when the timer reaches 0:00. You can also end the breakout room sessions early by clicking the Actions button and selecting Close all breakout rooms. In either case, participants should return to the primary session and re-activate their audio and/or video as needed.
