This activity is conducted during a course session that meets in person and is managed by the instructor. All class members in attendance are able to view a presentation or performance in person while providing time-stamped feedback.
Students in the class will open the activity by clicking the link in the Table of Contents. This allows them to provide time-stamped comments and feedback to their peers as they watch and listen to the presentation or performance. Students will not be able to begin commenting until the instructor begins recording.
Once the recording has started, audience members can give feedback by clicking Add Comment and typing their comment in the box. This button will be inactive when the instructor is not recording.
The instructor will start the in-class recording session by clicking the activity link in the course Table of Contents and then clicking the Start In Class tab on the left.
Next to the name of the student who is presenting, click the set as speaker button.
Prior to recording, test the webcam and microphone to ensure a quality recording. The audio bar beneath the recording window indicates your microphone strength. You might need to use an external microphone if you are in a large room.
When the presenter is ready, click the Record button.
To add time-stamped comments to the recording, click the Add comment button and type your feedback. Instructors can also see the comments being made by all students during the presentation or performance.
At the conclusion of the presentation or performance, click STOP to finish recording. This will also prevent students from commenting further. If you wish to record a student again, you will follow the steps above as if they had not recorded yet.
Rubric grading option (if selected during activity creation):
When the student’s video is complete, the grading rubric becomes available. Click on Open rubric to grade the student’s presentation or performance.

Click on Grade Student Submission text to open a student’s grade page. From there you will be able to review the recording with time-stamped comments, and indicate the student’s grade as a percentage or 5-star rating, depending on the grading option selected when the activity was created.
