The video presentation activity allows you to submit a video of your presentation delivery and then you can synchronize visual aids like PowerPoint slides to your video. Your video presentation will then be displayed in side-by-side windows with your In a video on the left and your visual aids on the right. The presentation activity also includes a powerful feedback feature called SyncCommentsTM which allows viewers to add time stamped comments as they view your video.
The activity can begin with a video from your educator explaining the assignment.
You have the option to record your video separately with an external video camera and then upload the video file to YouSeeU or you can record your video using your webcam and microphone and upload it directly to YouSeeU.
You’ll use image files for your visual aids. For example, your PowerPoint slide set can be exported as JPEG images, or you can use a chart or graph made in Excel that is also saved as an image file.
Submitting a Previously Recorded Video
If you would like to submit a video you have previously recorded, you can click Upload if the video is on your computer, Import From Library if your video is in your YouSeeU video library, or Transfer if you have the video hosted on Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
If you select Import From Library, you will be shown your library and be able to select one of your videos. If you select Transfer, you will be able to import a video from a cloud storage service. Click here for a tutorial on transferring videos.
If you select Upload, it will bring you to our video uploader. Here you will be able to navigate to your video and upload it. Note the file type and file size restrictions shown on the window. Once you begin your upload you will be able to see the progress of your upload as well as your upload speed and projected time remaining.
When your file has been uploaded or transferred, you will receive a conformation window. If you are transferring your video from your library, it will be available for viewing immediately, but if you uploaded a new video, you will be able to view it once it has processed.
Recording a Video in YouSeeU
If you want to record a new video directly into YouSeeU using your webcam and microphone, click Select/Record Video, and then click Record Video.
After allowing your browser permission to use your webcam and microphone, make sure the correct ones are selected from the drop down menus below the video. You will be able to see the audio level next to the menu to ensure your microphone is working.
When you are ready to record, press Record, record your video, and press Stop when finished. You may review your video before submitting.
Adding Visual Aids
Once the processing is complete, if your instructor has allowed slides for your assignment, the Status will change to the Add Slides button. You will still need to finalize your video even if you don’t want to add slides to your video. For more detail on adding visual aids to a video, click here.
